Natacshia Arthur Richards is the mother of three beautiful children 32, 17, and 15. Grandmother to three little princesses and the granddaughter to the Reverend Wilma Brown. Known to wear many “hats” Natacshia is an International mental health advocate and a serial Entrepreneur. Having the first-hand experience of needing assistance from others, life for her began as a child in the foster care system during the 80s. She resided at the Wading River Institution before transforming her pain into purpose. Natacshia started working with the NYS Office of Mental Retardation in 1996, where she helped people with developmental disabilities live richer lives.
She also worked for a private agency in 1995 and thereafter, began building a platform on social media for the sole purpose of spreading mental health awareness and suicide prevention. That platform is known today as, “You Have a Purpose”. It has since reached people in over 5 countries and various states such as Antigua, the UK, Philippines, Slovakia, Canada, and the US. With a burning love for giving back to the community Natacshia, has fed the homeless for over 15 years, contributed to coats and clothing drives, collected and participated in the toy drive at Woodhull Hospital for children and families affected and infected by the Aids virus during the holiday season where she dressed as Mrs. Clause.
About Natacshia
Her life’s mission is “To inspire others to dig deep within to identify and fulfill their life’s purpose. Encouraging them to find Hope and Strength from those who were unable to accomplish their own dreams. Reminding them to allow that forgotten goal, your parents, grandparents or children to motivate you to push even harder and to never permit a lack of effort to be the cause of murdered dreams”. That right there should be reason enough for anyone to try again. Find the beauty in attempting again, this time around you already know your previous mistakes, giving you the upper hand. Always remember, your L’s (losses) are actual lessons. I came to the realization of what I needed in life through my season of losses. As humans, Respect, Love, Kindness and Humility are key attributes we all should strive to possess. It should be our daily mission to live a life of integrity and to be empathetic. Empathy and compassion go a long way. Being disciplined, determined and consistent you are sure to find success following. Continuing her mission to inspire, Natacshia recently enrolled as a volunteer peer counselor for NYC 24hr Suicide Prevention Hotline. Where she provides crisis response and emotional support services to people who are in distress and suicidal. In all, these are more than past contributions to society but instead, a reflection of who Natacshia truly is, resilient and unstoppable.
